The A257 Traffic Group’s petition to introduce road safety improvements on the A257 between the Sandwich roundabout and Gobery Hill, Wingham, has received such a positive response that the Group have extended the closing date for signatures.
The e-petition, which opened on Tuesday 19 May, has received 724 signatures with at least 150 additional paper signatures which means the first threshold has been reached for discussions to take place at a local level. However, the Group want to reach 1500 signatures to ensure discussion takes place at a KCC Cabinet Committee meeting. The deadline for signing the petition has therefore been extended to Wednesday 30 September 2026.
The Group calls for a 50mph speed limit on the Ash bypass; a 40mph speed limit in the hamlet of Shatterling; central double white lines on the Roman Road and enforcement of the speed limits to improve safety for everyone living, working, walking, cycling, riding and driving on this road.
