As the summer holidays and harvest season approaches, the Parish Council wishes to remind both walkers and landowners how to use and manage public footpaths for the safe enjoyment of all.
For walkers, please adhere to the Countryside Code with a view to leaving no trace of your visit on the countryside. We are very fortunate to have lots of beautiful walks on our doorstep, but it takes all users to be responsible to ensure everybody can continue to enjoy them.
In particular:
- Stick to the clearly defined footpaths
- Keep your dogs under control and in sight – keep dogs on a lead in farmers fields due to danger of moving machinery during harvest season
- Clean up after your dog – properly bag and bin all dog waste
- Take your litter home with you

For landowners, we appreciate you are busy all year round but please can we remind you to do the following in particular:
- Ensure all public footpaths are clearly defined by being appropriately cut/strimmed (this is supposed to benefit you by stopping walkers going over your crops or other areas of your land they are not permitted)
- Check access stiles and gates to ensure that they are in good working order. If any are broken or likely to cause a hazard, please take steps to ensure these are replaced/repaired as appropriate to avoid any potential accidents.
