I must apologise that it has taken so long to be able to update everyone of the exact figure of the money raised from our classic car show. Whilst everyone appreciates how much work it is to organise such an event, it is generally under estimated how much administrative work there is post the event.
But before I reveal the grand total I must give you my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you and everyone who supported this event. It matters not how great or small a part you played, without each and everyone of you, this event would not have been the success it was.
Our greatest accomplishment was bringing all aspects of our community together to enjoy a family friendly event that didn’t break the bank.
We also had the honour and pleasure of Ron Lobeck (formerly TVS weatherman) and David Haigh (formerly TVS presenter to open our 40th anniversary event. In addition, we had a previous resident and playing field committee chairman, Stephen Gale-Barton who came along in his classic car.
This was the first year we have attempted a programme, and these were given out to all classic car owners, and all visitors. These show case our wonderful villages and communities and gave some of the history of The Frank Montgomery Playing Field.
Although it was a playing field led event, supported by the parish council, we also had our village hall committee, our village school parents and children and our 3 local churches involved in the event and raising money for their own funds.
This was also the first time we have given trophies for the Top Five ‘Best in Show’ classic cars and a further trophy for ‘public choice’.
Another first for us, was to have live music. We had some wonderful musicians of all ages and experiences, including children from our village primary school and Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys. All musicians donated their time for free, and we are extremely grateful.
We must also note that this event was entirely organised and run by volunteers. I think we have done a pretty good job, for a bunch of volunteers!
So now to reveal the grand total of all monies raised after expenses. It should be noted that this includes a very generous donation of £2,000 which was given to help fund this event initially and to support the playing field, and it includes all monies raised for all the organisations involved. I was secretly hoping to raise over £10k, I never dreamed that we would raise £13,126.29
