The Nailbourne Little Stour River Group of 12 Parish Councils within the catchment area of both the Nailbourne and Little Stour, and which stretches from Lyminge right through to Stourmouth, was formed in 2001. It was created in response to the increase in flooding threats from 1999 onwards. Up to 2014 there have been two major flooding “events” and some near misses since then. There has been some improvement in the Environment Agency’s investment in keeping the waterways clear especially with the by-pass channel at Littlebourne. However we cannot say the same about Southern Water – their lack of investment in the sewage and drainage system in our area is clearly evident by the MTS contract tankering each winter which causes disruption and road closures for the villages along the Nailbourne and Little Stour valley.
