A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUR VILLAGES POST OFFICE & VILLAGE SHOP ASSOCIATION
Village Shop Helps Local Groups Press Release
Sixteen local groups have benefitted from £11,000 of sponsorship awarded by the Four Villages and Post Office Association based in Littlebourne.
The Association was created in 2000 with the primary aim of restoring a local shop in Littlebourne. Every year the Association ploughs back a large percentage of the money it makes from letting the shop to worthy causes in Littlebourne, Wickhambreaux, Ickham and Stodmarsh.
The Association’s chairman, Robert Spencer said: “This is a great example of a win, win. Not only did the Association secure an excellent shop and post office for the area – thanks in part to the support it received from local people via share capital – but we are also able to thank the local community by supporting good causes.
“The four villages had a tough time during the pandemic and it is wonderful to be able to help provide a spring board via this sponsorship.”
Those receiving the cash are: The Garden Nature Club; Four Villages Conservation Society; Four Villages Fitness; Frank Montgomery Playing Field; Ickham Village Hall; Wickhambreaux Primary School; Littlebourne afternoon club; Littlebourne Primary School; Littlebourne Village Hall; Turner’s Orchard; Wickhambreaux Village Hall; Littlebourne Cricket Club; East Bridge Chorale; Mr Bodimeade; 1st Littlebourne Scout Group; Ickham Parish Council.
The money will be used to support a wide variety of projects including educational equipment, keep fit equipment, outings and a defibrillator.
The Association is run by a board of local volunteers.
