The Frank Montgomery playing field will be buzzing! Our community will be once again welcoming visitors to our unique beautiful charming traditional Kentish village.
This is our third classic car show and the second show where we have combined and shared with our gorgeous historic St Andrew’s Church Wickhambreaux.
This is is the first year that it is joined by the new PCC ICKWICKSTOD which are our 3 churches in Ickham, Wickhambreaux and Stodmarsh.
The monies raised are towards the upkeep and maintenance of our three churches and specifically towards an all inclusive/disabled roundabout for The Frank Montgomery playing field in Wickhambreaux.
This is entirely organised and run by volunteers and I could not have done this without the constant support of my husband Steve Rees and our children cathleen and Charles Rees.
Let alone the amazing members of our community who have been working tirelessly to support this event. Way too many to list and a lot of those wonderful “elders” do not have Facebook.
It is a first that I am almost going to have to decline entries from Classic cars!!! I am not very good at saying ’NO’! But that’s what makes our event different: it is not just a vast display of classic vehicles, there are a few (100) classic cars, heading for 2 dozen bikes and a couple of tractors (another first) but as well, this is a family cosy fun get-together with people that just want to support our fund raising efforts – the support is quite humbling.
So with no further blah:
The Bar is fully stocked with beer, wine, pimms. Supported from The Duke William at Ickham and The Haywain at Bramling.
We have 500 quality burgers and 100 sausages from our local Preston Butchers. The rolls are coming from our local bakery Wilmhurst in Wingham. The BBQ gas has been donated from Wingham country market.
We will have traditional teas and cakes, local produce, handmade crafts, Wavey Grain woodwork, City Oven Cleaning, Grandad’s Shed with unique garden items, model cars for sale, lots of lolly icecream and RC southern Grass Track club.
Then there is the barrel of booze – with one lucky winner takes all! Traditional tombola with stunning prizes, and of course, the teddy tombola with lots of gorgeous teddies that just need their next forever home. Face painting, sweets, Name the Teddy, bowling for the pig (adult and child prize for the highest score of balls bowled) supported from Chandler & Dunn Ltd and of course our well stocked book stall.
Finally, the all important portaloos have been delivered and the cost of these has been met by local residents (who wish to remain anonymous).
Quite bluntly – without these portaloos this event would have to have been flushed down the toilet!! (cancelled) – so enormous gratitude to them and as a result – The Show Will Go On!

- An amazing unique Telephone Bug Hotel made by the talented Grandad’s Shed

Lastly – now all we need is lots and lots and lots of visitors – we have acres of free public parking. And lots and lots of money spent (please).
In 2016 we raised just over £3500. In 2917 we raised just over £5500.
Let’s make this our best ever.
The Frank Montgomery Playing Field committee is just £3000 short of the cost of the proposed all inclusive/ disabled roundabout which in total is costing around £12,000
